The Commute

Solly's Bagels

I’ve been taking the same route to work every single day for just over a year now. It’s crazy to think that I’ve been living lululemon for that long already. It’s also crazy to think that so little has changed in my life, but so much has changed in the city’s landscape.Every single day we notice that something about our morning horizon is different. New buildings go up before we even realized the old ones had been torn down. Car dealerships and jiffy lube lots become condos. Even the Maynards building is turning condo.

My commute used to take me through a somewhat sketchy romp of industrial lands. It’s getting scarily concrete and glassy. Once the Olympic village takes shape I’m sure I won’t recognize the place.

Some great things still remain the same. In the last few months Ella and I have managed to eat our own body weight in cream cheese laden bagels from Solly’s. Places like Solly’s, that used to feel like they were in the middle of nowhere, are now in the midst of new action.

About Me

I like short walks on long beaches and churros.

Above and beyond the aforementioned, I prefer deserts, duvets, dachshunds, $1.99 breakfasts, messy hair, mashed potatoes, sleeping in, seat sales, shoes, uva & uvb.

I work as an account manager for lululemon athletica, ballyhooing nylon lycra and selling tight pants to midwesterners.

I live in a big, white loft in Vancouver near the beach.

I'm happiest when I am sitting or eating toast with hot sauce.

Where Can You Find Me?

I am often in my house above Zulu Records, in Kitsilano.

Sometimes I am at work.

Other times I am on the balcony or near coffee or on a beach or at Holt Renfrew or at Bikrams or in the Okanagan or on an easyJet flight bound somewhere delightful like Brno.

You might find me there.

But if you can't you can call my cell phone. I may not answer. I'm quite partial to the parcel post.
