SeattleLast weekend we were able to get away for a quick weekend jaunt to Seattle. Jake was actually in the country, and he managed to put aside his Alpharettan pizza and butter dipping sauce for a few days in order to enjoy the Emerald city! Melissa also nabbed a cheap flight in from Toronto - and so the Monette-Mackays and Coles-Devines hit the 1-5 and headed south of the border.

We stayed in the Hotel Max, right in the heart of the city, and it was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The rooms were small, but fabulously appointed. And they even had a “pillow menu”. You could custom order any type or combination of pillows that you so desired. We also got the world’s snuggliest bathrobes and a bed that begged to be slept-in in.

Dinner was at Matt’s in the Market (perfectly overlooking Pike Place Market) and then drinks at Red Fin. We stopped at the Walgreens en route back to our hotel to fill up on dirt cheap American candy. I ate my body weight in Whoppers.

The next morning we decided to hit up a Seafood buffet of sorts, the Crab Pot! There they dump buckets and buckets of freshly cooked seafood right onto your table. You wack away at it with mallets and eat until you physically can’t force any more in. My jeans felt really tight.

After the seafeast, we explored the waterfront, played Whac-a-Mole & Skeet Ball, wandered the market, bought some fresh honey, and then left on the hunt for the giant Fremont troll. Melissa and I had the troll burned in our memory since watching “10 Things I Hate About You”. We searched the city and finally found it, on Troll Avenue no less. We took the required photos and then hit the highway home.

All in all it was one of the best Fall weekend getaways I’ve ever had.

Did you walk under the Alaskan Way Viaduct? (Between Pike Place and Belltown) We got to analyze the city and develop ideas for redeveloping that region for a class project…

About Me

I like short walks on long beaches and churros.

Above and beyond the aforementioned, I prefer deserts, duvets, dachshunds, $1.99 breakfasts, messy hair, mashed potatoes, sleeping in, seat sales, shoes, uva & uvb.

I spend my days developing interactive marketing, social media & pr programs for lululemon athletica.

I live in a big, white loft in Vancouver near the beach.

I'm happiest when I am sitting or eating toast with hot sauce.

Where Can You Find Me?

Sometimes I am at work.

Other times I am on the balcony or on a beach or at Holt Renfrew or on an easyJet flight bound somewhere delightful like Brno.

You might find me there.

I rarely answer my mobile. I'm quite partial to the parcel post.
