In case you missed it, this April Fools we played a pretty sneaky April Fools Day joke at work! With our new site launching in mere days (yes, days - count them: 13!) we wanted to do a web based April Fools stunt. We also wanted something that would draw attention to our upcoming launch all while keeping our guests entertained in the April Fools style to which they have become accustomed to. And so - we told the world our new site was launching April 1st.
However … when guests arrived at our site this is what they were treated to. Yep. Pickles, pandas, poor product and even an incredible Rick Roll care of Char Loro herself. The site was a downright 1990s geocities nightmare of a site. Animated gifs, starry night background, neon colors, mouse trail, tables (and nested tables), and every product that you wanted to “buy” was, of course, out of stock. We even created fun product descriptions for the items (all of which WERE original alebit old items we’ve made), had a job section, and a haiku korner.
While a lot of people actually thought this was our attempt at an ecommerce (ahem, ecommerces) site, most got the joke. Within minutes the internets was on fire with news of our prank.
All in all, the reception was very positive and I’m thankful that even admist all the pre-site insanity we were able to pull something very fun off!

Thanks for the shout out! Loved the April Fools’ joke - especially since I totally thought I was immune to pranks like that! Hope you will check out Web Marketing Therapy - we provide comic relief as well!
